Beowulf was brave and stood up to defeat Grendel, a monster that has been terrorizing for twelve years. Knowing the Grendel was a very strong, evil monster, Beowulf knew what he was facing. Even though he knew what could happen, he risked his life to defeat him. I believe the Beowulf was very brave to do that. It was a life or death situation, but he did not let that stop him. When no one else stepped up, he did. I feel that he is a real hero for defeating Grendel, Grendel's mother, and the fire breathing dragon. When he defeated Grendel, and Grendel's mother he was younger, and was able to fight better. Once he fights the fire breathing dragon, he is in his seventies. He is able to succede, but later on dies. I have respect for him. Even though he was old, he still never gave up. He was always ready to fight. He showed strength, intelligence and bravery throughout the epic story. He is a great example of a true Anglo-Saxon hero.
